Throughout the entire process, we at Undercover Artists strive to make your secret singers experience as simple and as easy as possible. From booking to performance, we take care of everything including venue co-ordination, liaising with your catering team, equipment and certificates, so that you don’t have to. Below we will take you through our singing waiters process.
From the initial enquiry we will discuss your event in detail, find out a little bit more about what you have planned, and when the best time for our performance to start would be. This is dependant on a few factors, such as if you’re having a 3 course meal/buffet/hog roast, or even canapés only. We can tailor our performance to what you have planned, and if you have other entertainment scheduled. We will then get a feel for the type of music that you like and assign the singers most suitable. Once confirmed, we do advise that you inform your venue that you have booked us, and then we can take it from there!
After booking you can sit back and relax, knowing that you have secured the best singing waiters for your event! 5 weeks before your date, we will be in contact to arrange our planning call together. We will also send over our full repertoire list, plus a recommended short list of about 25-30 songs to help narrow it down. These songs will be tailored to suit the singing staff that have been assigned to you, they’re also guaranteed floor fillers and is a great place to start as we understand that sometimes a huge song list can be a little overwhelming. If you have a particular style of music that you would like (from modern pop, Musical Theatre and Classical) please let us know so that we can make appropriate suggestions. During our planning call we will discuss all timings together in case anything has changed since booking, song choices, and other event details. Our venue co-ordinator will then speak to your venue to introduce ourselves, confirm all the details we have discussed, and organise uniform.
It’s the day of your event! Our undercover waiters will arrive incognito 2 hours before guests are due to arrive to set up and soundcheck. We allow plenty of time so that we don’t give the surprise away, and from there it’s time to act as waiters. We will then change into the uniform of the venue to start helping with basic duties throughout the Wedding Breakfast/Meal/Buffet, such as - pouring wine, refilling empty water jugs and clearing empty glasses away. This is just enough to get us noticed, and to build a rapport with your guests. We also answer any questions your guests may ask (we’ve become professionals at learning where the restrooms are or if there’s any extra gravy left!) all before the performance starts during dessert. From there on out, it’s all about you and your guests, creating the best atmosphere possible and providing unforgettable memories (all with incredible vocals of course).

After our team has spent your meal “blending” in with the rest of the wait staff, it’s time for the performance to begin. We’re all about creating a positive atmosphere and getting your guests up and involved. We are there to help the venue and enhance your experience, so there’s no cheesy speeches or arguments from us, we’re purely there to get everyone up and having a good time. Our preferred method is the “tray drop”. Once your guests are finishing off their desserts, one of the team will fall with a tray of cutlery to gain everyone’s attention. It’s not necessarily about “seeing” the fall, it’s all about the noise to start the performance. Don’t just take our word for it, check out the video of Tobias doing what he does best!
Our performances are half an hour long, which works out as 8 songs (including the encore). As standard, our performances happen once all desserts have been served (unless you’re having a hot dessert) as we’ll need everyone in the room for the reveal. We also find that this is the time where there’s usually a lull and has maximum impact with your guests.
With years of experience, we have put together an extensive set list for you to choose from. This covers pretty much everything from modern pop/classical/musical theatre. However if you find something missing, we will learn 1 additional song with 4 weeks notice, providing there’s a decent backing track available and it will enhance the set.
Our standard package is for 2 x singing waiters, however we can provide anything from 1 singer to 6+, we currently have a team of 25 handpicked performers.
All our performers are professionally trained singers. You can find our singer profiles on our website and our Instagram is regularly updated with live video clips from Weddings and events where you can see them live in action! This way you can see (and hear) exactly what you’ll be getting.
Our job is to blend in seamlessly with the existing waiters/catering team at the venue. You‘ll find us helping out with basic duties throughout your event such as clearing empty glasses, refilling water jugs, and pouring wine. We don‘t involve ourselves with the food service (as we‘ll leave that to the professionals!) but we‘ve become experts at directing your guests to the bathroom, or bringing extra gravy to the tables.
To secure your date we have a contract in place, plus a non refundable 25% deposit. The final balance is due 4 weeks before your event following our planning call. For our deposits, the payment methods we accept are – all UK major credit cards (please note there is a charge of 1.6% per transaction to pay via credit card) or BACS. For the remaining balance we accept the above, or cash on the day if you’d prefer. We can also offer payment plans if you’d rather spread the cost monthly.
So you’ve signed the contract and paid the deposit; your booking is now confirmed with us! 5 weeks before your event we will contact you to arrange our planning call. This is where we will go through absolutely everything together, including timings/venue details/song choices. When arranging our planning call I will send over our most up to date song list, plus a shortlist of recommendations just to help and we’ll discuss them on the phone together.
Yes! Jess from the team is our venue co-ordinator and handles all our venue calls. The week before your event she will contact the venue to go through all the timings we have discussed during our planning call, check the uniform so that we can bring the same and send over our current PAT & PLI certificates.
Yes we do. Our teams provide full PA system including radio mics for up to 200 guests. If you‘re having a larger event of 200+ guests we do ask that a larger PA system is provided, ran by an AV team.
Yes we are. All our equipment is PAT tested, with Public Liability Insurance coverage up to £10,000,000. Jess, our venue coordinator will send these across to your venue the week before your event to ensure they have the most up to date versions.
Yes, in fact the less people who know the better! If you’re booking on behalf of the Bride/Groom/your other half, it’s easy for us to keep this as a surprise. We would always recommend you letting the venue know you’ve booked us, then we’ll take it from there.
Yes, we regularly perform at Weddings and events abroad and are happy to travel, no distance is too far!
